Hadith 4:493
Shababa narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu Bishr, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, he said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) arrived in Medina, the Jews were fasting the day of Ashura. He asked them about that, and they said: "This is the day on which Allah caused Musa to prevail over Pharaoh." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "You are more worthy of Musa than they are, so fast it."
حدثنا شبابة قال حدثنا شعبة عن أبي بشر عن سعيد بن جبير عن بن عباس قال لما قدم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم المدينة واليهود يصومون يوم عاشوراء فسالهم عن ذلك فقالوا هذا اليوم الذي ظهر ( ( ( أظهر ) ) ) الله فيه موسى على فرعون فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لأنتم أولى بموسى منهم فصوموه
