Hadith 4:512
Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Yazid, that he heard Ibn ‘Abbas being asked about the fasting of ‘Ashura’. He said: "I do not know that I ever saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) fast a day seeking its virtue over other days except this day, nor a month except this—meaning Ramadan."
حدثنا بن عيينة عن عبيد الله بن أبي يزيد سمع بن عباس سئل عن صيام عاشوراء قال ما علمت اني رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صام يوما قط يطلب فضله عن الأيام إلا هذا اليوم ولا شهرا إلا هذا يعني رمضان
