Hadith 4:590
Abu Dawud narrated to us, from Umar bin Farrukh, from Salih al-Dahhan, who said: The crescent moon of the end of Ramadan was seen during the day, so the people fell into eating and drinking. A group from the Azd were in I'tikaf, and they said, "O Salih, you are our messenger to Jabir bin Zayd." So I came to Jabir bin Zayd and mentioned that to him. He said, "Are you among those who saw it?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Did you see it in front of the sun, or did you see it behind it?" I said, "No, in front of it." He said, "Then this day of yours is from Ramadan; you only saw it in its path. So command your companions to complete their fasting and their I'tikaf."
