Hadith 4:598
Waki' narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, that a Bedouin testified before the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) regarding the sighting of the crescent moon. He said, "Do you testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Yes." He said, "So he ordered the people to fast."
حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن سماك عن عكرمة أن أعرابيا شهد عند النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على رؤية الهلال فقال تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأني رسول الله قال نعم قال فأمر الناس أن يصوموا
