Hadith 4:610
Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: I said to 'Ata', "What is your opinion if the people of Mecca wake up not fasting, or a man or two men [do so], and then news comes to them that the crescent moon has been sighted, and the news reaches them at the beginning of the day or at the end of the day? Should they fast the remainder of their day, or should they make it up later?" He said: "They may eat and drink if they wish, and he did not obligate them to fast the remainder of their day."
حدثنا محمد بن بكر عن بن جريج قال قلت لعطاء أرأيت أن أصبح أهل مكة مفطرين أو رجل أو رجلان ثم جاءهم أن قد رئي الهلال فجاءهم الخبر بذلك من أول النهار أو من آخر النهار كانوا يصومون بقية يومهم أو يقضونه بعد قال يأكلون ويشربون إن شاءوا ( ( ( شاؤوا ) ) ) ولم يوجب عليهم أن يصوموا بقية يومهم
