Hadith 4:647
Waki’ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-Awza’i, from Marthad ibn Abi Marthad, from his father, who said: I was with Abu Dharr at the middle Jamrah, so I asked him about the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr). He said: "I was the person who asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about it the most. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, inform us about it.' He said: 'If I had been permitted regarding it, I would have informed you. But seek it in the [last] seven [nights]. Then do not ask me about it after this standing of yours or mine.'"
حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن الأوزاعي عن مرثد بن أبي مرثد عن أبيه قال كنت مع أبي ذر عند الجمرة الوسطى فسالته عن ليلة القدر فقال كان أسأل الناس عنها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنا قلت يا رسول الله أخبرنا بها فقال لو أذن لي فيها لأخبرتكم ولكن التمسوها في أحدى السبعين ثم لا تسألني عنها بعد مقامك أو مقامي هذا
