Hadith 4:689
9555. Waki’ narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Abu ‘Ammar al-Hamdani, from ‘Amr ibn Sharhabil, who said: A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think of a man who fasts his entire life?" He said, "I wish he would not eat for his entire life." He said, "Two-thirds of it?" He said, "More." He said, "Half of it?" He said, "More." Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "Shall I not inform you of what removes the malice of the chest? Fasting three days of every month."
حدثنا وكيع عن الأعمش عن أبي عمار الهمداني عن عمرو بن شرحبيل قال قال رجل يا رسول الله أرأيت رجلا يصوم الدهر كله قال وددت أنه لا يطعم الدهر كله قال ثلثيه قال اكثر قال نصفه قال أكثر ثم قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ألا أنبئكم ما يذهب وحر ( ( ( حر ) ) ) الصدر صيام ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر
