Hadith 4:720
Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) fasted continuously (without breaking his fast). The people heard of that, so they fasted continuously. That reached the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so he forbade them. He said: "I am not like you; I spend the night with my Lord, and He feeds me and gives me drink."
حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن أبي صالح عن أبي هريرة قال واصل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فبلغ ذلك الناس فواصلوا فبلغ ذلك النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فنهاهم فقال إني لست مثلكم إني أظل عند ربي فيطعمني ويسقيني
