Hadith 4:725
Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Khalid al-Hadhdha’, from Abu Qilabah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade them from *al-wisal* (continuous fasting). They said, "O Messenger of Allah, you practice *al-wisal*." He said, "I am not like you; I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me to drink. But if you insist, then [fast] from the *sahar* (pre-dawn time) to the *sahar*."
حدثنا بن علية عن خالد الحذاء عن أبي قلابة أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نهاهم عن الوصال فقالوا يا رسول الله إنك تواصل فقال إني لست مثلكم أبيت يطعمني ربي ويسقيني فإن أبيتم فمن السحر إلى السحر
