Hadith 4:755
Hafs narrated to us, from Layth, from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn Abbas and Aisha: They both said, "There is no I'tikaf except with fasting." And Ali and Ibn Mas'ud said, "There is no fasting upon him unless he imposes it upon himself."
حدثنا حفص عن ليث عن الحكم عن مقسم عن بن ( ( ( هشيم ) ) ) عباس وعائشة قالا لا اعتكاف إلا بصوم وقال علي وبن مسعود ليس عليه صوم إلا ان يفرضه هو على نفسه
