Hadith 4:826
Jarir ibn Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, from Layth, who said: Tawus was asked about a woman who died while she had an obligation to perform i'tikaf for a year in the Sacred Mosque, and she had four sons, all of whom wanted to fulfill it on her behalf. Tawus said: "Perform i'tikaf, all four of you, in the Sacred Mosque for three months, and fast."
حدثنا جرير بن عبد الحميد عن ليث قال سئل طاوس عن امرأة ماتت وعليها أن تعتكف سنة في المسجد الحرام ولها أربعة بنون كلهم يحب أن يقضي عنها قال طاوس اعتكفوا اربعتكم في المسجد الحرام ثلاثة أشهر وصوموا
