Hadith 4:872
Ya'la narrated to us, he said: Hajjaj bin Dinar narrated to us, from Mansur, from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas: That he disliked to stand erect for the crescent moon, but rather he would turn towards it and say: "Allah is the Greatest. Praise be to Allah who caused such-and-such a crescent to pass away and brought such-and-such a crescent."
حدثنا يعلى قال حدثنا حجاج بن دينار عن منصور عن مجاهد عن بن عباس أنه كره أن ينتصب للهلال ولكن يعرض ويقول الله أكبر والحمد لله الذي أذهب هلال ( ( ( هلالا ) ) ) كذا وكذا وجاء بهلال كذا وكذا
