Hadith 4:901
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Ubayd, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, who said: I witnessed the Eid with Umar ibn al-Khattab. He began with the prayer before the sermon and said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, forbade fasting on these two days. As for the day of al-Fitr, it is the day of breaking your fast from your fasting. And as for the day of al-Adha, eat therein from the meat of your sacrifice.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا سفيان عن الزهري عن أبي عبيد مولى بن أزهر قال شهدت العيد مع عمر بن الخطاب فبدأ بالصلاة قبل الخطبة وقال أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نهى عن صوم هذين اليومين أما يوم الفطر فيوم فطركم من صيامكم وأما يوم الأضحى فكلوا فيه من لحم نسككم
