Abu Usama narrated to us, from Mujalid, from Ziyad ibn 'Alaqah, from Sa'd, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) appointed 'Abdullah ibn Jahsh, and he was the first commander appointed in Islam.
