Muslimah narrated to us, Abu Ali Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abi Raja’ al-Zayyat al-Maliki narrated to us in Mecca, dictating from his memory, Ahmad bin Ibrahim al-Ghassani narrated to us in Ramla in the year two hundred and seventy-seven, my father narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from a man from the army of Muslim bin Uqbah, who said: When we arrived at Medina, I entered the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and prayed beside Abd al-Malik bin Marwan. Abd al-Malik said to me, "Are you from this army?" I said, "Yes." He said, "May your mother be bereaved of you! Do you know against whom you are marching? You are marching against the first child born in Islam, the son of the disciple (Hawari) of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the son of Asma, the one with the two girdles (Dhat al-Nitaqayn), and the one whom the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) chewed a date and placed it in his mouth with his own hand. By Allah, if you come to him by day, you will find him fasting, and if you come to him by night, you will find him standing in prayer. If the people of the earth were to unite to kill him, Allah would cast them all into the Fire on their faces." The man said: Only a few days passed until the Caliphate went to Abd al-Malik, and he sent us against him, and we killed him.
