Hadith 34:47
Waki’ narrated to us, from Abu Ja’far al-Razi, from al-Rabi’ ibn Anas, from Abu al-‘Aliyah, from a servant of Salman—it is said his name was Suwayd, and he praised him well—who said: When the people conquered al-Mada'in and went out in pursuit of the enemy, I obtained a basket. Salman said, "Do you have any food?" I said, "A basket I obtained." He said, "Bring it. If it is wealth, we will hand it over to these [the authorities/the treasury], and if it is food, we will eat it." He said: So we opened it, and behold, there were loaves of white bread (hawwari), cheese, and a knife. And that was the first time the Arabs saw white bread.
