Hadith 34:51

'Abd al-Rahim narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Utbah—meaning al-Mas'udi—from al-Qasim ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, who said: The first to spread the Quran from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was Ibn Mas'ud. The first to build a mosque in which he prayed was 'Ammar ibn Yasir. The first to give the adhan was Bilal. The first to shoot an arrow in the way of Allah was Sa'd ibn Malik. The first to be killed among the Muslims was Mihja'. The first to gallop his horse in the way of Allah was al-Miqdad. The first tribe to pay the charity of their own accord was Banu 'Udhrah. The first tribe to become intimate/allied with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was Juhaynah.

حدثنا عبد الرحيم عن عبد الرحمن بن عتبة يعني المسعودي عن القاسم بن عبد الرحمن قال كان أول من أفشى القرآن من في رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بن مسعود وأول من بنى مسجدا صلى فيه عمار بن ياسر وأول من أذن بلال وأول من رمى بسهم في سبيل الله سعد بن مالك وأول من قتل من المسلمين مهجع وأول من عدا به فرسه في سبيل الله المقداد وأول حي أدوا الصدقة من قبل أنفسهم بنو عذرة وأول حي ألفوا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم جهينة
