Hadith 34:73

Abu Usama narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn al-Mughira, from Humayd ibn Hilal, who said: Al-Ala’ ibn al-Hadrami sent to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) eight hundred thousand from the tax (kharaj) of Bahrain, and it was the first tax that arrived to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). He ordered it to be scattered on a mat in the mosque. The caller to prayer gave the call, so he went out to the prayer and prayed. Then he came to the wealth and stood over it. He did not give while silent, and he did not refuse a requester. A man would come and say, "Give me," and he would say, "Take a handful." Then a man would come and say, "Give me," and he would say, "Take two handfuls." And a man would come and say, "Give me," and he would say, "Take three handfuls." Al-Abbas came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, give me from this wealth, for I paid my ransom and the ransom of Aqil on the day of Badr, and Aqil had no wealth." He said, so he began to spread out a velvet garment (khamisa) that he was wearing, and he began to scoop from the wealth and heaped it into it. Then he stood up with it, but he could not carry it. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, help me carry it." The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) looked at him and smiled until his molars appeared, and said, "Decrease from the wealth and stand up with as much as you can bear." When al-Abbas turned away, he said, "As for one of the two things that Allah promised us, He has fulfilled one of them for us, and we are awaiting the other." The saying of the Exalted, "O Prophet, say to whoever is in your hands of the captives, 'If Allah knows any good in your hearts...'" to the end of the verse; Allah has fulfilled it for us, and we are awaiting the other.
