Hadith 34:93
Malik narrated to us, Mas'ud ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha'bi, who said: The first of the Arabs to write—meaning in Arabic—was Harb ibn Umayya ibn 'Abd Shams. It was said: From whom did he learn that? He said: From the people of al-Hira. It was said: From whom did the people of al-Hira learn? He said: From the people of al-Anbar.
