Hadith 6:1014

Ubaydah ibn Humayd narrated to us, from Abu Farwah al-Hamdani, from al-Mughirah ibn Abi Subay', from Ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: I sat with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in a gathering, and I saw him looking sad. A man from the people said to him, "What is the matter with you, O Messenger of Allah? It is as if you are sad." He said, "I remembered my mother." Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "I had forbidden you from the meat of the sacrificial animals, that you should not eat it except for three [days]. So eat, feed [others], and store whatever seems good to you. And I had forbidden you from visiting the graves; so whoever wishes to visit the grave of his mother, let him visit it. And I had forbidden you from the *duba* (gourd), the *hantam* (green glazed jar), the *muzaffat* (pitch-coated vessel), and the *naqir* (hollowed-out log). So avoid every intoxicant, and prepare your nabidh (drink) in whatever seems good to you."
