Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 6:1235

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, from Umm Mubashir, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, entered upon me while I was in one of the gardens of Banu al-Najjar, in which there were graves of some who had died during the Pre-Islamic period (Jahiliyyah). He went out, and I heard him saying: "Seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, is there a punishment for the grave?" He said: "Indeed, they are being punished in their graves with a punishment that the beasts hear."
