Hadith 6:1246

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Mujahid, from Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) passed by two graves and said: "Indeed, they are being punished, and they are not being punished for a major [sin]." "As for one of them, he used not to cover himself from urine. As for the other, he used to walk about with slander." Then he took a fresh palm branch, split it into two halves, and planted one in each grave. They said: "O Messenger of Allah, why did you do this?" He said: "Perhaps it will be lightened for them as long as they do not dry out."

حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن مجاهد عن طاوس عن بن عباس قال مر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بقبرين فقال إنهما ليعذبان وما يعذبان في كبير أما أحدهما فكان لا يستتر من البول وأما الآخر فكان يمشي بالنميمة ثم أخذ جريدة رطبة فشقها نصفين ثم غرس في كل قبر واحدة فقالوا يا رسول الله لم فعلت هذا قال لعله يخفف عنهما ما لم ييبسا
