Hadith 6:1252
Ghundar narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Ya'la ibn 'Ata, from Tamim ibn Ghaylan ibn Salamah, who said: A man came to Abu al-Darda' while he was ill and said, "O Abu al-Darda', you have reached the brink of departing from the world, so command me with a matter by which Allah may benefit me and by which I may remember you." He said, "I am from a forgiven nation. So establish the prayer, pay the zakat of your wealth if you have any, fast Ramadan, and avoid immoralities; then rejoice." He said: The man repeated [the request] to Abu al-Darda', and he said to him the same thing. Shu'bah said: I think he repeated it to him three times, and Abu al-Darda' replied to him three times. The man shook his garment and said, "Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture," up to His saying, "and those who curse will curse them." Abu al-Darda' said, "Bring the man to me." So he came to him, and Abu al-Darda' said, "What did you say?" He said, "I was a man seeking knowledge from you, possessing knowledge that I do not have, and I wanted you to tell me something by which Allah might benefit me, but you did not add anything for me beyond one statement." Abu al-Darda' said, "Sit down, then comprehend what I say to you: Where are you regarding a day when you will have nothing of the earth except a width of two cubits by a length of four cubits? Your family, who did not like to part with you, and your companions and brothers will come with you, then they will close the grave-slabs upon you, then they will heap the soil upon you, then they will leave you in that state." "Then two black and blue-eyed angels with matted hair will come to you, whose names are Munkar and Nakir. They will make you sit up, then they will ask you: 'Who are you?' or 'Upon what were you?' Then, 'What do you say about this man?'" "If you say, 'By Allah, I do not know; I heard the people saying something, so I said it,' they will say, 'By Allah, you neither knew, nor were you saved, nor were you guided.'" "But if you say, 'Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Allah sent down His Book upon him, so I believed in it and in what he brought,' then by Allah, you have been saved and guided. And you will not be able to do that except by the steadfastness from Allah, along with what you see of the intensity and the fear."
حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن يعلى بن عطاء عن تميم بن غيلان بن سلمة قال جاء رجل إلى أبي الدرداء وهو مريض فقال يا أبا الدرداء إنك قد أصبحت على جناح فراق الدنيا فمرني بأمر ينفعني الله به وأذكرك به قال انا من أمة معافاة فاقم الصلاة وأد زكاة مالك إن كان لك وصم رمضان واجتنب الفواحش ثم ابشر قال ثم أعاد الرجل على أبي الدرداء فقال له مثل ذلك قال شعبة واحسبه اعاد عليه ثلاث مرات ورد عليه أبو الدرداء ثلاث مرات فنفض الرجل رداءه وقال @QB@ إن الذين يكتمون ما أنزلنا من البينات والهدى من بعد ما بيناه للناس في الكتاب @QE@ إلى قوله @QB@ ويلعنهم ( ( ( ويل ) ) ) اللاعنون ( ( ( عنهم ) ) ) @QE@ 2 فقال أبو الدرداء علي الرجل ( ( ( بالرجل ) ) ) فجاءه فقال أبو الدرداء ما قلت قال كنت رجلا معلما عندك من العلم ما ليس عندي فاردت أن تحدثني بما ينفعني الله به فلم تزد علي إلا قولا واحدا فقال أبو الدرداء اجلس ثم اعقل ما أقول لك أين أنت من يوم ليس لك من الأرض إلا عرض ذراعين في طول أربعة أذرع أقبل بك أهلك الذين كانوا لا يحبون فراقك وجلساؤك واخوانك فاطبقوا عليك الثنيات ثم اكثروا عليك التراب ثم تركوك بمثل ذلك ثم جاءك ملكان أسودان أزرقان جعدان اسماءهما منكر ونكير فأجلساك ثم سألاك ما أنت أم على ماذا كنت ثم ماذا تقول في هذا فإن قلت والله ما أدري سمعت الناس قالوا قولا فقلته يقولان والله لا دريت ولا نجوت ولا هديت وإن قلت محمد رسول الله أنزل الله عليه كتابه فأجبت به وبما جاء به فقد والله نجوت وهديت ولم تستطع ذلك إلا بتثبيت من الله مع ما ترى من الشدة والخوف
