Hadith 6:1279
Hushaym narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from ‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that he asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, Al-‘As ibn Wa’il used to command in the Jahiliyyah that one hundred camels be slaughtered, and Hisham ibn al-‘As slaughtered his share of that, fifty camels. Should I slaughter on his behalf?" He said: "If your father had affirmed the Oneness (Tawhid), then if you had fasted on his behalf, or given charity on his behalf, or emancipated a slave on his behalf, that would have reached him."
حدثنا هشيم عن حجاج عن عمرو بن شعيب عن أبيه عن جده أنه سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال يا رسول الله ان العاصي بن وائل كان يأمر في الجاهلية أن ينحر مائة بدنة وان هشام بن العاص نحر حصته من ذلك خمسين بدنة أفأنحر عنه فقال ان أباك لو كان أقر بالتوحيد فصمت عنه أو تصدقت عنه أو عتقت عنه بلغه ذلك
