Hadith 6:138
Ibn al-Mubarak and ‘Abd al-A’la narrated to us, from Ma’mar, from al-Zuhri, from Sa’id ibn al-Musayyib: He said: ‘Ali sought from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, what is sought from the dead, but he did not find it. So he said: "May my father be sacrificed for you, you were pure in life and you are pure in death."
حدثنا بن مبارك وعبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب قال التمس علي من النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ما يلتمس من الميت فلم يجده فقال بأبي طبت حيا وطبت ميتا
