Hadith 6:167
Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Ubayd Allah, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn 'Ata', from Abu Salamah, regarding the man who dies among women: He said, "His wife shall wash him. If his wife is not present, then he shall perform tayammum with the soil." And the woman who dies among men, with no woman among them: He said, "Her husband shall wash her. If he is not present, then women from the women of the People of the Book shall be brought for them, and they shall wash her."
حدثنا إسماعيل بن عياش عن عبد العزيز بن عبيد الله عن محمد بن عمرو بن عطاء عن أبي سلمة في الرجل يموت مع النساء قال تغسله امرأته فإن لم تكن امرأته فلييمم بالصعيد والمرأة تموت مع الرجال ليست معهم امرأة قال يغسلها زوجها فإن لم يكن فنساء من نساء أهل الكتاب يصبون لهن فيغسلنها
