Hadith 6:186
Abu Usama narrated to us, from Awf, who said: I was in a gathering in which Qasama ibn Zuhayr and elders were present who had met Umar ibn al-Khattab. A man said: "I had a wife from Banu Amir ibn Sa'sa'ah under my care," and he was praising her goodness. "When the time of the plague of al-Jarif came, she was afflicted with the plague. When she became very ill, she said: 'I am a stranger, so let no one attend to me but you.' Then she died, so I washed her and took charge of her." Awf said: I did not see any of those elders blame or criticize the man for that.
حدثنا أبو أسامة عن عوف قال كنت في مجلس فيه قسامة بن زهير وأشياخ قد أدركوا عمر بن الخطاب فقال رجل كانت تحتي امرأة من بني عامر بن صعصعة وكان يثني عليها خيرا فلما كان زمن طاعون الجارف طعنت فلما ثقلت قالت اني امرأة غريبة فلا يليني غيرك فماتت فغسلتها ووليتها قال عوف فما رايت أحدا من اولئك الاشياخ عتب ولا عاب ذلك على الرجل
