Hadith 6:422
Muhammad ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Hisham al-Dastawa'i, from Hammad, from Ibrahim, that he used to see no harm in a friend of the deceased making the call (announcing the death). And he said: "They only used to dislike the announcement (na'i) like the announcement of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah), [which is saying]: 'I announce the death of so-and-so.'"
حدثنا محمد بن يزيد عن هشام الدستوائي عن حماد عن إبراهيم أنه كان لا يرى بأسا أن يؤذن بالميت صديقه وقال إنما كانوا يكرهون نعيا كنعي الجاهلية أنعي فلانا
