Hadith 6:574
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ya’la ibn ‘Ubayd narrated to us, from Musa al-Juhani, who said: I asked al-Hakam, al-Sha’bi, ‘Ata’, and Mujahid: "Is there a fixed [formula] for the prayer over the deceased?" They said: "No. You are merely an intercessor, so intercede with the best of what you know."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال ثنا يعلى بن عبيد عن موسى الجهني قال سألت الحكم والشعبي وعطاء ومجاهدا في ( ( ( أفي ) ) ) الصلاة على الميت شيء موقت فقالوا لا إنما أنت شفيع فاشفع بأحسن ما تعلم
