Hadith 6:579
Waki’ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Hashim, from al-Sha’bi, who said: I heard him saying regarding [the funeral prayer]: In the first [takbir], there is praise for Allah the Exalted. In the second, there is prayer upon the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. In the third, there is supplication for the deceased. In the fourth, there is the taslim.
