Hadith 6:580
'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, who said: I heard Abu Umamah narrating to Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, he said: "It is from the Sunnah in the funeral prayer that one recites the Opening of the Book (al-Fatihah), then invokes blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), then makes the supplication sincere for the deceased until he finishes. He does not recite except once, then he gives the salutation to himself."
حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري قال سمعت أبا امامة يحدث سعيد بن المسيب قال من السنة في الصلاة على الجنازة أن يقرأ بفاتحة الكتاب ثم يصلي على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم يخلص الدعاء للميت حتى يفرغ ولا يقرأ إلا مرة واحدة ثم يسلم في نفسه
