Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Awn, who said: I asked al-Sha’bi about standing for the funeral procession until it is placed in the *lahd* (niche in the grave). He said: I did not see anyone doing that except Abu Marhum, that Syrian man, and they used to mock him.
