Hadith 6:964
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Ibn 'Awn, who said: Standing for the funeral procession until it is placed [on the ground] was mentioned to al-Sha'bi, and it was as if he did not recognize that. He said: So I mentioned that to Mujahid. He said: That is only when one has prayed over it; he should not sit until it is placed [on the ground].
حدثنا أبو بكر قال ثنا معتمر بن سليمان عن بن عون قال ذكر للشعبي القيام للجنازة حتى توضع فكأنه لم يعرف ذلك قال فذكرت ذلك لمجاهد قال إنما ذلك إذا صلى عليها لا يجلس حتى توضع
