Hadith 8:1272
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from ‘Awf, from Ziyad ibn al-Husayn, he said: Abu al-‘Aliyah narrated to me, from Ibn ‘Abbas, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said on the morning of al-‘Aqabah: "Pick up pebbles for me." So I picked up for him small pebbles, like the pebbles used for throwing (at a target). He said: "With the likes of these, then throw." Then he said: "Beware of extremism in religion."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا بن علية عن عوف عن زياد بن الحصين قال حدثني أبو العالية عن بن عباس قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم غداة العقبة القط لي حصى فلقطت له حصيات من حصى الخذف قال فقال بمثل هذا فارموا ثم قال إياكم والغلو في الدين
