Hadith 8:1551

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ghundar narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from al-Hasan, that he was asked about a man who was ignorant [of the requirement to enter into ihram] until he entered Makkah. He said: If he considers it a grave matter, he should enter into ihram from his place. Al-Hasan also said: He should return to his boundary (miqat) and enter into ihram from there, unless he fears missing [the Hajj]. If he fears missing it, he should enter into ihram from his place and proceed, and there is nothing upon him.
