Hadith 8:1651
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ ibn al-Jarrah narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Muslim al-Batin, from Ali ibn al-Husayn, from Marwan ibn al-Hakam, who said: We were traveling with Uthman, and he heard a man pronouncing the Talbiyah for both of them [Hajj and Umrah] together. Uthman said: "Who is this?" They said: "Ali." Uthman came to him and said: "Do you not know that I have forbidden this?" He replied: "Yes, but I will not abandon the action of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, for your statement."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا وكيع بن الجراح عن الأعمش عن مسلم البطين عن علي بن حسين عن مروان بن الحكم قال كنا نسير مع عثمان فسمع رجلا يلبي بهما جميعا فقال عثمان من هذا فقالوا علي قال فأتاه عثمان فقال ألم تعلم أني نهيت عن هذا فقال بلى ولكن لا ادع فعل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بقولك
