Hadith 8:1778
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, from ‘Uyaynah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman, from his father, he said: I was with Ibn ‘Abbas when a man came to him and said: "I dedicated a sacrificial camel, but I lost it on the road. Will it suffice for me?" He said: "If it was for a vow or an expiation, then you must bring it to the House (the Kaaba). I do not think you will be able to bring it. But if it was a voluntary offering..." He (the narrator) said: I said to him: "Even if it were a sheep?" He said: "Yes."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا وكيع عن عيينة بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه قال كنت عند بن عباس فأتاه رجل فقال إني أهديت بدنة وإني أضللتها بالطريق فهل يجزئ عني فقال إن كانت في نذر أو في كفارة فوافى بها البيت فلا إخالك وافيت بها وإن كانت تطوعا قال قلت فيه ولو شاة قال نعم
