Hadith 8:1843
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu’awiyah narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, from ‘Abdullah ibn al-Harith, that a partridge was gifted to ‘Uthman while he was on one of his pilgrimages and he was in the state of ihram. He ordered it, so it was cooked and made into tharid (a dish of bread and broth). It was brought in large bowls while we were in the state of ihram, and they all ate except for ‘Ali.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد عن عبد الله بن الحارث أن عثمان أهديت له حجل وهو في بعض حجاته وهو محرم فأمر بها فطبخت فجعلت ثريدا فأتي بها في الجفان ونحن محرمون فأكلوا كلهم إلا علي
