Hadith 8:2059
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, from Muharib, from Ibn Buraydah, who said: We arrived in Medina and came to ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar. He said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when a man came to him, good of clothing, pleasant of scent, and handsome of face. He said: "Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "And upon you." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, may I draw near to you?" He said: "Draw near." We said: We have never seen a day like today, a man with better clothing, nor a more pleasant scent, nor a more handsome face, nor one more respectful to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Then he said: "O Messenger of Allah, may I draw near to you?" He said: "Yes." So he drew near, and we said the same as we had said before. Then he said to him a third time: "May I draw near to you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes," until he pressed his knees against the knees of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is Islam?" The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "You establish the prayer, give the zakat, fast Ramadan, perform the pilgrimage to the House, and perform ghusl from janabah." He said: "You have spoken the truth." We said: We have never seen a day like today, by Allah, it is as if he is teaching the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا بن فضيل عن عطاء بن السائب عن محارب عن بن بريدة وردنا المدينة فأتينا عبد الله بن عمر فقال كنا عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فأتاه رجل جيد الثياب طيب الريح حسن الوجه فقال السلام عليك يا رسول الله قال وعليك فقال يا رسول الله أدنو منك قال ادن فقلنا ما رأينا كاليوم قط رجلا أحسن ثوبا ولا أطيب ريحا ولا أحسن وجها ولا أشد توقيرا لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم قال يا رسول الله أدنو منك قال نعم فدنا دنوه فقلنا مثل مقالتنا ثم قال له الثالثة أدنو منك يا رسول الله قال نعم حتى الزق ركبتيه بركبة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال يا رسول الله ما الإسلام قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم تقيم الصلاة وتؤتي الزكاة وتصوم رمضان وتحج البيت وتغتسل من الجنابة قال صدقت فقلنا ما رأينا كاليوم قط رجلا والله لكأنه يعلم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم
