Hadith 8:2064
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, from al-Taymi, from Abu Mijlaz, regarding the saying of the Exalted: "And when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House," he said: Gabriel came to him and showed him the circumambulation (Tawaf) of the House—and I think he said: and al-Safa and al-Marwa. Then they both set off to the Aqaba, and Satan appeared before them. He said: So Gabriel took seven pebbles and gave Abraham seven pebbles. He threw and said "Allahu Akbar" (God is the Greatest), and he said to Abraham: "Throw and say 'Allahu Akbar'." He said: So they both threw and said "Allahu Akbar" with every throw until Satan retreated. Then they both set off to the middle Jamra, and Satan appeared before them. So Gabriel took seven pebbles and gave Abraham seven pebbles. They both threw and said "Allahu Akbar" with every throw until Satan retreated. Then they came to the furthest Jamra. He said: Satan appeared before them. He said: So Gabriel took seven pebbles and gave Abraham seven pebbles and said: "Throw and say 'Allahu Akbar'." They both threw and said "Allahu Akbar" with every throw until he retreated. Then he brought him to Mina and said: "Here is where people shave their heads." Then he brought him to Jam' (Muzdalifah) and said: "Here is where people combine the prayer." Then he brought him to Arafat and said: "Have you recognized?" He said: "Yes." He said: "From there it was named Arafat."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن التيمي عن أبي مجلز في قوله تعالى @QB@ وإذ يرفع إبراهيم القواعد من البيت @QE@ 1 جاءه جبريل فاراه الطواف بالبيت وأحسبه قال والصفا والمروة ثم انطلقا إلى العقبة فعرض لهم الشيطان قال فأخذ جبريل سبع حصيات وأعطى إبراهيم سبع حصيات فرمى وكبر وقال لإبراهيم ارم وكبر قال فرميا وكبرا مع كل رمية حتى أقبل الشيطان ثم انطلقا إلى الجمرة الوسطى فعرض لهما الشيطان فأخذ جبريل سبع حصيات وأعطى إبراهيم سبع حصيات فرميا وكبرا مع كل رمية حتى أقبل الشيطان ثم أتيا الجمرة القصوى قال فعرض لهما الشيطان قال فأخذ جبريل سبع حصيات وأعطى إبراهيم سبع حصيات وقال ارم وكبر فرميا وكبرا مع كل رمية حتى أقبل ثم أتى به منى فقال ها هنا يحلق الناس رؤوسهم ثم أتى جمعا فقال ها هنا يجمع الناس الصلاة ثم أتى به عرفات فقال عرفت قال نعم قال فمن ثم سميت عرفات
