Hadith 8:2081

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Aziz al-Ammi narrated to us, he said: Matar was asked while I was listening about a woman who asked her husband for permission to perform Hajj, but he did not grant her permission. Then she asked him for permission to visit [her family], and he granted her permission. So she wrapped white garments around herself and shouted [the intention] for Hajj. He said: They came to al-Hasan and asked him, and al-Hasan said: "She does not have the right to do that." Matar said: Qatadah was asked, and he said: "She is in a state of Ihram." Matar said: So I went to Makkah and asked al-Hakam ibn Utaybah, and he said: "She is in a state of Ihram." Matar said: So I ordered a man to ask Ata ibn Abi Rabah, and he said: "No, and may her eyes not be cooled [an expression of disapproval]; she does not have the right to do that."
