Hadith 8:2390
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abda narrated to us, from Hisham, from his father, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray facing the side of the House, with nothing between him and the circumambulation (Tawaf). Then Abu Bakr (did the same) after him. Then Umar later moved it back to the Miqat.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا عبدة عن هشام عن أبيه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يصلي إلى سفع البيت ليس بينه وبين الطواف شيء ثم أبو بكر من بعده ثم إن عمر رده بعد إلى الميقات
