Hadith 8:2493
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hatim narrated to us, from Ja’far, from his father, from Jabir, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to Ali: "What did you say when you assumed the state of Ihram for Hajj?" He said: "I said: 'O Allah, I assume Ihram for that which Your Messenger has assumed Ihram for.'" He said: "For I have the sacrificial animal with me, so do not exit the state of Ihram." He said: So all the people exited the state of Ihram and shortened their hair, except for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and those who had a sacrificial animal with them.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا حاتم عن جعفر عن أبيه عن جابر أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال لعلي ما قلت حين فرضت الحج قال قلت اللهم إني أهل بما أهل به رسولك قال فإن معي الهدي فلا يحل منك حرام قال فحل الناس كلهم وقصروا إلا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ومن كان معه هدي
