Hadith 8:2503

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-Ala’ ibn al-Musayyab, from a man from Bakr ibn Wa’il, who said: I asked Ibn Umar, and I said: "We hire ourselves out [for transport/labor] in this direction of Hajj, and some people claim that there is no Hajj for us." He said: "Do you not recite the Talbiyah, perform Tawaf around the House, go between al-Safa and al-Marwah, throw the pebbles, and stand at the station [Arafat]?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Then you are pilgrims (hujjaj)." A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and asked him about the like of what I asked him about, but he did not answer him until this verse was revealed: "There is no sin upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord." Then he called him and recited it to him, and then said: "You are pilgrims."
