Hadith 8:2531
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Jarir narrated to us, from Layth, from Yahya ibn 'Abbad Abu Hubayra, who said: A woman from the people of al-Rayy wrote to Ibrahim [al-Nakha'i] that she is wealthy, and she has no husband and no mahram, and she has never performed Hajj. Ibrahim wrote back to her: "This is part of the 'way' (al-sabil) which Allah mentioned, and you have no mahram, so do not perform Hajj except with a husband or a mahram."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا جرير عن ليث عن يحيى بن عباد أبي هبيرة قال كتبت امرأة من أهل الري إلى إبراهيم أنها موسرة وليس لها بعل ولا محرم ولم تحج قط فكتب إليها إبراهيم إن هذا من السبيل الذي قال الله وليس لك محرم فلا تحجي إلا مع بعل أو محرم
