Hadith 8:2701
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik, from Ata, regarding a man who drove a sacrificial animal (badana) and it became incapacitated (or died/was injured): He said: He may eat from it, feed others, and give in charity, because he is obligated to provide a replacement.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا بن نمير عن عبد الملك عن عطاء في رجل ساق بدنة فعطبت قال يأكل ويطعم ويتصدق لأن عليه البدل
