Hadith 8:3139
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Nafi’, from Ibn ‘Umar, that a man asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "What should the *muhrim* (pilgrim in state of ihram) wear of garments, or what should the *muhrim* leave?" He said: "He shall not wear leather socks (khuffayn) nor trousers (sirwal), unless he does not find sandals. So whoever does not find sandals, let him wear the leather socks, provided he cuts them below the ankles."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا بن علية عن أيوب عن نافع عن بن عمر أن رجلا سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ما يلبس المحرم من الثياب أو ما يترك المحرم فقال لا يلبس الخفين ولا السراويل إلا أن لا يجد نعلين فمن لم يجد نعلين فليلبس الخفين ليقطعهما اسفل من الكعبين
