Hadith 8:3192
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, from Nasr ibn ‘Adi, he said: I heard Mujahid saying: The Ancient House (al-Bayt al-‘Atiq) was only named as such because it was emancipated from the tyrants; there is no tyrant who can claim that it belongs to him.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا وكيع عن نصر بن عدي قال سمعت مجاهدا يقول إنما سمي البيت العتيق لأنه أعتق من الجبابرة فليس جبار يدعي أنه له
