Hadith 8:432

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from al-Ash’ath, from Ibrahim, from ‘Ikrimah, who said: If a man enters into the state of Ihram for Hajj and is then prevented (by an obstacle), he shall send a sacrificial animal. If he proceeds (with the intention), he shall make it an ‘Umrah, and he is obligated to perform Hajj the following year, and there is no sacrificial animal upon him. And if he delays that until he performs Hajj, then he is obligated to perform a Hajj and an ‘Umrah, and whatever is easily available of the sacrificial animal. And whoever does not find (the means for the sacrifice), then he shall fast three days during the Hajj, the last of which is the day of ‘Arafah.
