Hadith 8:438
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Awn, he said: Muhammad used to say: If a man makes Hajj obligatory upon himself and is then afflicted by an obstruction (hasr), he shall send a sacrificial animal (hady). When the sacrificial animal reaches its destination, he becomes released from some things and remains prohibited from others. If it is the following year, he shall enter into the state of ihram for Hajj and ‘Umrah. If he combines them, then a sacrificial animal is upon him. And if he wishes, he may remain until he recovers, then proceed on his way and perform tawaf of the House; the ‘Umrah will suffice for him, and the Hajj is upon him the following year.
